Course: ISG101 Diamonds Course
This course will provide the student with a complete overview of diamonds from formation to grading. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify rough diamonds
- Perform diamond cut grading and evaluation
- Perform diamond color grading and evaluation
- Perform diamond clarity grading and evaluation
- Identify synthetic and treated diamond issues.
- Practical Diamond Grading where you will be sent Certified Diamonds for grading practice. (US only)
- Work in a jewelry store diamond sales department
Lessons: 14 plus 4 hour DVD lecture. Prerequisites: None

Course: ISG102 - Identification of Colored Gemstones
This course will provide the student with a complete overview of colored gemstones from formation to grading, including how to use the gemological equipment required to perform the identifications. The course materials cover the 60 top gemstones seen on the current market, including gemological properties, how to identify the gemstones, and how to grade the gemstones. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Operate the gemological equipment used to identify gemstones
- Identify over 60 of the most common gemstones on the market. Perform gemstone testing services for jewelry stores.
- Perform gemological duties for appraisal labs, gemstone dealers, and jewelry stores.
Lessons: 22 plus 8 hour DVD lecture. Prerequisites: None

Course: ISG103 - Colored Gemstone Grading
This course will teach students the proper protocol for the grading and evaluation of colored gemstones. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Evaluate a colored gemstone for color, clarity, cut and proportioning quality.
- Evaluate a phenomenal colored gemstone for special features such as star stones, cat’s eyes, etc...

ISG104 - Identification of Synthetic Gemstones
This course will provide the student with a broad spectrum of synthetic gemstones including the definitions of a synthetic gemstone, the processes by which they are made, and the identification techniques. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify the specific laboratory processes used to make a synthetic gemstone.
- Identify 26 of the most often seen synthetic gemstones on the current market.

ISG105 - Introduction to Watches
This course will provide the student with a foundation level introduction to watches and the watch markets. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify various types of watch movements. Verify the authenticity of a watch versus a replica.
- Work with a jewelry store watch sales department.
Lessons: 6 plus 1 hour DVD lecture. Prerequisites: None

ISG106 - Pearls Course
This course is a complete overview into the world of pearls, from natural to cultured. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Explain the various types of pearls and identify cultured pearls from natural pearls. Grade pearls for the various valuation properties.
- Identify the pearl treatments and proper care for pearls, and present that knowledge to consumers.
Lessons: 7 plus 2 hour DVD lecture. Prerequisites: None

Final Exams: A 90 minute timed online Theory Final Exam of 100 multiple choice and true/false questions with a required passing grade of 70% covering all course materials. Then, a 20 stone Practical Final Exam will be sent to you to test your gemological ability to identify gemstones. Due to customs regulations international students will continue to be exempt from the practical exams at this time.

Upon successful completion of the complete ISG Registered Gemologist Program, you will be awarded the ISG Registered Gemologist diploma, and be entitled to participate in the following programs::

- Special gemology updates and support for the latest events in the industry.
As an ISG Registered Gemologist you will be required to pass an annual re-certification to maintain your status. This annual re-certification will be based on an annual refresher course that will include the latest developments in the world of insurance and gemology, with a final exam being required at the end. Cost of re-certification is $50.00 per year. |
